Overnight stay for three with dinner and breakfast

rooz Overnight stay for three with dinner and breakfast image

The “Bay Tree” is beautifully presented, fully refurbished, historic hotel building – formerly an Elizabethan private house – with attentive staff, charming, traditionally furnished rooms and an impressive dining room overlooking a delightful garden. Expectations were consequently very high as we looked forward to dinner in the glamorous dining room after a celebratory bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne. The only note of concern at this point was the disappointment of the sandwiches we ordered for lunch. The menu description of the local cheddar and ham rather oversold compared the grated cheese…

Kesh, Both the interior kitche (for my wife), and outdoor kitchen (for me) are complete. Have used most of it, but for the two larger parties, a local chef got to play with it all. Will use some of both, over Easter. As we are not hosting Passover, that will be done at a friend’s. Now, I need to remember how to use the Miele Coffeemaker. Time to re-read the 200 page (all US English) manual… Happy Easter and Passover to all, and post of YOUR meals, Hunt

All you need

Stayed with my 9 year old son. He loved the bunk beds. Would maybe be cramped for 2 adults. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was nice. When you are out in the city all day it serves your basic needs for sleep and shower. We did not eat at the Pod. My only complaint was there is no ice vending machine. We walked to Central Park (far but doable), Empire State, Times Square, Library, Grand Central Station, and Penn station. Plenty of places to eat right around the corner.

NYC Suggestions

I have no problem with staying in Long Island City if you’re flying into LGA or JFK, but if you’re flying into EWR, any hotel savings could be eaten up by the extra transportation costs to get from EWR to Long Island City and from Long Island City to Cape Liberty. EWR- LI City and LI City to Cape Liberty are simply not any kind of easy trips on public transit with luggage. Jersey City is right across the Hudson from lower Manhattan. PATH and the light rail are very…

The Windsor Suites

Couldn’t really enjoy all the facilities this hotel offers due to short duration of trip and work requirements. Strongly feel I missed out on the best things this place has to offer and consider returning for an at least 2-3 day stint. Check-in was fast, modern and pleasant. Business Center is working with MAC Computer which is always a bit annoying if you have grown up on Windows. Unfortunately the Keurig machine was working but thankfully, there was free coffee ready in the lobby. If you have work to do…

My fiance and I LOVED staying at EVEN! From the very first phone call, I knew we would love it there. The customer care on the phone and in-person was superb! The team gave great suggestions and directions for local places to eat – they even gave me bar passes to celebrate my birthday. Thanks 🙂 The room had all the extras – an exercise ball and yoga mat for my lazy mornings, high-quality toiletries, a shower with a detachable hand-held to help tame these unruly curls of mine, a…

Best location for Flushing Meadows

rooz Best location for Flushing Meadows image

Airbnb has legal problems in NYC which others will comment on at length. The only subway that goes directly to the tennis is the Flushing Line #7 train. The tennis stadium is in a park and there is nothing much around it. The nearest hotels would be in Flushing. Some of these cater to Asian tourists as Flushing has a large Asian population. There is also the Long Island Railroad from Penn Station, Manhattan, that stops at the park only during events such as the tennis and baseball games. This…

Day 7 Suddenly we’ve made it to our last full day! Thanks to everyone who is still reading along, it’s been a lot of fun to relive the trip! 🙂 We woke up in the morning and packed up the condo, cleaning as much sand as we could. We were down at the front desk checking out by about 8:00am, the only charges we had were for daily parking which was about $20 for the week – super reasonable. We had an amazing stay in the unit, and were a…

Hotel Chiusarelli (Siena,

Ideal location walking distance to buses and Duomo and piazza Campo. Room was clean, and promptly cleaned each day. Bed was comfy but pillows were too soft. The bells of the church chime at 7am so we didn’t need an alarm. Breakfast was amazing all you could want, loved the hard boiled eggs and chocolate cake was incredible. Fresh fruit was also available. We spent five days there and toured for two it was enough to see everything.

Great Hotel Find

This hotel was in a perfect location for business I had on the East side of Manhattan but walkable from Penn Station, and to all the sites of midtown. The area is quieter than I typically find in that area of NYC. By NYC standards, the rooms are HUGE, with a full kitchen. For breakfast, was able to visit a Trader Joe’s down the block, stock a few items and simply get coffee from the Dunkin Donuts next door or Starbucks half a block away in the morning. The free…

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. Loved the staff, who were extremely friendly and helpful. When the front desk noted that I was traveling with my son, they upgraded our room to allow for a bit more space, which was greatly appreciated, especially since we were there during the NCAA Tournament and the hotel was heavily booked by NCAA personnel. We were right behind the elevators, but you get used to the noise. The location is extremely convenient to MSG/Penn Station/Times Square/Broadway/High Line, and we took advantage of the…

The hotel is located directly across from Penn Station on 7th Ave, can’t beat it! Nice modern rooms with well-appointed kitchenette, a real plus! Room temperature was a bit too warm and unable to regulate. Bellmen gave prompt service for stowing luggage before and after check out. Ash was very helpful! Thank you!

Cost-effective Marriott brand hotel in Garment District

Literally located next to a much pricier Springhill Suites by Marriott hotel. Used to stay at another Fairfield Inn & Suites property in Chelsea, but that one kind of outpriced itself recently. Short walking distances in each direction to Penn Station/Madison Square Garden, Macy’s, Empire State Building and Times Square. Directly across the street is Green Apple Gourmet Food Store with lots of healthy and fully prepared options, weekdays opening hours around the clock. Tiny rooms (as usual in Manhattan) with outdated furniture, but fully equipped and clean including up-to-date…

Excellent Choice for NYU College Visit!

Overall, I am extremely pleased with my experience at the Fairfield Inn on 37th Street. The hotel was an easy 10-minute walk from Penn Station. When we arrived at 1 pm, we were greeted by Keisha. She was very friendly and helpful. Our room was ready, but, without any prompting, she contacted housekeeping to ensure whether they furnished my room with the foam pillows listed as a preference in my Marriott profile. We only had a slight 5-minute delay before housekeeping confirmed that the room had foam pillows. The lobby…
