Overall, I am extremely pleased with my experience at the Fairfield Inn on 37th Street. The hotel was an easy 10-minute walk from Penn Station. When we arrived at 1 pm, we were greeted by Keisha. She was very friendly and helpful. Our room was ready, but, without any prompting, she contacted housekeeping to ensure whether they furnished my room with the foam pillows listed as a preference in my Marriott profile. We only had a slight 5-minute delay before housekeeping confirmed that the room had foam pillows. The lobby was small, but clean and modern. There was also a hospitality station with complimentary coffee, team and fruit-infused water available all day. The hotel is small, with only 6 rooms per floor. There were two elevators that were very efficient. There was never any delay. Our room had one king bed. It was clean, updated and comfortably furnished. It was on the small side for two people. We had to be creative when unpacking bags and storing clothes, even though we were only there for a two-day stay. There was a nice window with a view of the Empire State Building. There were enough towels for the two of us and nice toiletries. The bed was comfortable and there was an in-room thermostat where we could control the heat. This was a much-needed feature since the temperature plunged more than 30 degrees during our stay. The room was quiet at night. The complimentary breakfast exceeded my expectations. The breakfast area was felt like a mini-oasis with nice water features. There was a wide range of options from waffles to omelets to fresh fruit and cereals. The coffee (Starbucks) was good. The staff was excellent. They were extremely friendly and ensured that all items were well-stocked and showed guests how to use the waffle machine. I loved the location of this hotel. It was a ten-minute walk to Times Square and close to the 34th Street/ 6th Avenue subway stations. My daughter and I were in town the visit NYU and this was a great place to stay. I have stayed in many hotels in New York as both a business and leisure traveler. Compared to other hotels in which I’ve stayed as a business traveler (on expense account), I would say that the room size was smaller and amenities were fewer. When compared to NYC hotels I’ve stayed in as a leisure traveler, this hotel was among the best in terms of value, location and overall experience. I received an attractive rate for this hotel and it was well worth it. There is nothing I would change about my visit. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.
