According to the Hollywood Reporter , Brolin has landed the hotly contested role of Cable in the sequel to the 2016 Marvel blockbuster. Other actors who were rumoured to be considered for Cable, a mutant super soldier from the future who has been both an enemy and ally to Deadpool in the comic books, included David Arbour (Stranger Things), Pierce Brosnan (James Bond), Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire), and Nathan Fillion (Firefly). Deadpool 2, which also stars Zazie Beetz as the mutant mercenary Domino, will begin filming June 19 in Vancouver under the production title Love Machine. The first Deadpool, based on the foul-mouthed Marvel anti-hero of the same name, made more than $780 million on a $58-million budget to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever. It’s also the No. 2 highest-grossing Vancouver-made movie ever, behind The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 ($829.7 million).
