A look at who’s signing where and what each of them will need to do to have a shot to make their teams’ 53-man rosters: Artavis Scott, Chargers After drafting Mike Williams with their first-round pick, the Los Angeles Chargers added another Clemson wide receiver by signing Artavis Scott as an undrafted free agent. Scott is Clemson’s all-time leader in receptions (245) despite playing just three seasons for the Tigers. An All-ACC performer in all three of those seasons, Scott ranks fifth in school history with 19 receiving touchdowns and finished his career with 2,458 receiving yards. An undersized player by NFL standards, Scott will face an uphill battle to earn a spot on the Chargers’ wide receiver depth chart, but the key to making a team as an undrafted free agent is playing well on special teams – an area where Scott contributed regularly at Clemson. Scott’s ability to not only return kickoffs and punts but also to make tackles in kickoff and punt coverage should give Scott a real shot at making the Chargers’ regular-season roster. Instant analysis: Chargers draft Clemson's Mike Williams Ben Boulware, Panthers Clemson linebacker Ben Boulware (10) reacts after a defensive stop against Louisville during the 1st quarter on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Clemson's Memorial Stadium. (Photo: BART BOATWRIGHT/Staff) Ben Boulware grew up as a Carolina Panthers fan, and now he’ll have the chance to play for them. The T.L. Hanna product chose to sign with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent. A two-time All-ACC selection, Boulware earned the Jack Lambert Award in 2016 as college football's best linebacker. Boulware led Clemson with 116 tackles in 2016 and finished his Tigers career with 249 total tackles. That wasn’t enough to get Boulware drafted, but it shouldn’t come as any surprise if Boulware ends up sticking around with the Panthers, whose roster currently does not include any Clemson players. While Boulware is a below-average athlete by NFL standards, he has great instincts and ability to recognize plays before the snap. He’s a player who can be counted on to give maximum effort, no matter what role the Panthers expect him to play, and will certainly go into training camp with a chip on his shoulder. Like I said 3 days ago...I'm in the business of proving people wrong. All I need is an opportunity. Now just sit back & watch. Undrafted Clemson players have shot to make NFL teams Jadar Johnson, Giants Clemson defensive back Jadar Johnson (18) celebrates after the Tigers stopped Boston College on the goal line during the 2nd quarter at Boston College's Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, MA on Friday, October 7, 2016. (Photo: BART BOATWRIGHT/Staff) Jadar Johnson is one of two members of last year's Clemson football team joining the Giants, along with running back Wayne Gallman, who the Giants selected in the fourth round of the draft. Johnson will also be reunited with former Clemson teammate B.J. Goodson, a linebacker for the Giants, who trained alongside Johnson this spring at TNT Sports in Williamston. In his lone season as a starter at Clemson last year, Johnson recorded 61 total tackles, led the team with five interceptions and was a first-team All-ACC selection. The Giants didn't use any of their draft picks on safeties, so Johnson should have a shot to make the roster as a backup at the position. He demonstrated impressive range and ability to make plays on the ball last season at Clemson, but like the others, he will need to perform well on special teams to earn a spot on the Giants' 53-man roster.
